About us

What is the Basement Project?

The Basement Project is a registered charity supporting young people up to 17 years who live in Benton, Longbenton, Forest Hall and Palmersville.
We’re open after school and provide a warm, safe and friendly environment where young people can socialise, gain support and enjoy free meals.

Since opening in 2014, we’ve welcomed hundreds of young people through our doors. Based in the basement under St Bart’s Church Hall, we’ve created a place where everyone is valued, encouraged and supported to reach their potential.

Mission of our Charity?

The Basement Project exists to unlock the potential of every young person who walks through our doors. We aim to nurture character, build confidence, and support growth, enabling young people to become responsible, caring members of their community.

We strive to:
Meet the needs of young people aged 11 to 17 (with a particular focus on high school-aged children) living in the North East of England.
Promote education, learning and recreation, encouraging curiosity and creativity.
Nurture character and build confidence, supporting emotional and personal development.
Empower young people to contribute to society, share their experiences, and celebrate their culture.
